We held our Yappy Hour to benefit Hill Hounds and Kingsman Field this past Saturday at Union Pub down the street from Union Station. We were expecting maybe 50-60 total attendees and we were hoping to raise $500 or maybe possibly $1,000 through the event. We were fundraising for two reasons: 501(c)(3) filing and startup costs, and amenities we want DPR to include when they build out the dog park at Kingsman Field such as separate play areas for small and large breeds, and more. DPR will only pay for a bare-bones dog park--if we want anything above and beyond that, we must pay for it ourselves AND we must have funds in hand when DPR breaks ground. This is putting us a bit under the gun to raise funds quickly. Well--thanks to the amazing and dedicated work of many people (thanked specifically below), Hill Hounds raised $1,484 through our Yappy Hour!!!!!! Thank you to everyone who spread the word to friends, came out, bought raffle tickets, made donations, played trivia, and bought buckets of mini corn dogs and beer!! It is truly outstanding that such a small and informal organization like ours was able to do such a great job with the Yappy Hour.
